Grilling Safety
Cooking food on your grill should always be an enjoyable process, and it should be safe. Check out the tips below to stay safe while grilling.
- Allow charcoal to burn out before removing from grill to avoid a possible fire.
- Be sure to clean your grill of ash and burnt food.
- Remove ash only after charcoal is burned out and all ashes have been completely cooked. Closing your grill lid and vents after cooking helps speed along this process.
- Prevent foods from sticking to the cooking grate by coating with vegetable oil.
- Be sure to cover grill after use to avoid rusting.
- Never leave grill unattended while in use.
- Be sure that grill is on level ground, away from nearby buildings and overhanging trees.
- When using charcoal lighter fluid, be sure to replace bottle cap tightly after use.
- When using charcoal lighter fluid, be sure to set container away from grill then light immediately.
- Never use a charcoal grill inside a house, tent or camper, as the burning charcoal will produce dangerous carbon monoxide.
- Do not pour lighter fluid on burning briquets.
- Never use gasoline to light a fire.
- For best results, store charcoal bag in a cool, dry place.
- Store and use your grill away from flammable items.
